Generalism

Aside from the name, I have no outstanding talents, nothing that marks me out as particularly special. I’m not a catalogue model, a sporting superstar, the owner of a company on 2 million pounds a year salary before bonus and benefits. I’m ordinary. Except, I love doing lots of things, and I love reading about lots of things.

I think that probably makes me as close to a generalist as one can get, which does at least help me to write about a wide mix of things I’ve thought about or come across on the web, stuff I’ve found interesting, intriguing, thought provoking, or just plain fun. Oh, that and being able to type at 70 words-per-minute.

So anyway, perhaps other people will read my rants and raves, or perhaps this is all just for personal benefit so that I can look back in 50 years and go “Wow, was that _really_ what I was thinking/reading/doing?!” (assuming that the internet is still around and we haven’t blown ourselves up, been destroyed by natural disasters or been taken over by a robot uprising). Either way it’s great to be here, and somewhat gratifying to be able to add my very very teeny-weeny voice to the cacophony that the blogging fraternity has become.
